What is God’s Desire for Mankind?

First and foremost, God wants you to desire him most of all. To love him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to be his holy people.

God designed mankind to reflect his very character and be like him.

Genesis 5: 1-2 says, When God created human beings, he made them be like himself. He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them human.
Genesis 1: 27 says, So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

He also designed you to be in a relationship with him.

Leviticus 26: 12 says, I will walk among you; I will be your God and you will be my people.
1 Timothy 2: 3-4 says, This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

One day in prayer I asked God to show me what he wanted to accomplish in and through me and he shows me Philippians 2: 2-8. Let’s take a look at what those verses have to say about what God desires for you and for me.

Philippians 2: 2-8 says this, Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross.

WHAT IS GOD’S DESIRE FOR MANKIND?

First, you are to agree with one another.

Second, you are to love one another.

Third, you are to be like-minded as Christ, having the same spirit and love.

Fourth, you are to do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit.

Fifth, you are to value others above yourself.

Sixth, you are to humble yourself as Christ humbled himself while he was on earth. He chose to be human like you so that he could feel your pain and hurt. And he chose to die for you.

Seventh, you are to have the same attitude as Christ. An attitude of one that enables you to lay aside what you may think is right in order to serve others.

To help keep yourself humble and to have compassion towards others you need to remember, that without Christ’s forgiveness and the Holy Spirit living in you, you would continue to live in sin. If God can forgive you and love you when you sin. You can do the same towards others. I know this is hard to do, but if you continuously ask God for help when you are looking to give someone compassion or forgiveness, God will give you the ability to forgive that person.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, Thank you for being so good to me. Thank you for loving me, for dying for me, never giving up on me, and for forgiving me of all my sins. Help me to be more like you and less like me. I know it will be a lifelong challenge to change me unto the likeness of your son, but I know you are working on me every day and that you promise you will continue to do so until you come back for me. Thank you Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
