Origin Story

Today’s Godly Wisdom Origin Story

It was 4:30am on Aug 12th, 2020, I was up and out of bed because of another nightmare. I decided to go to my prayer room and spend some time with the Lord. Not knowing if I was going to hear from Him, I sat there in silence. I opened my bible and God spoke to me and told me to go to the book of Jeremiah.

I read the first chapter and verses 4-8 stood out to me. It said, The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” “O Sovereign Lord, I said, I can’t speak for you! I am too young!” The Lord replied, “Don’t say I am too young, for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I the Lord have spoken!”

I didn’t have any clue what God was trying to say to me that morning until a month later on September 12th, he showed me that verse again. This time he had already been speaking to my heart about starting a blog.

I had no idea where to begin with starting a blog. And I didn’t believe that I was capable of doing what he was asking of me. “Who am I that they would want to read my stories?” I asked the Lord. “I am not qualified!” “And there are so many blogs out there what is going to make mine stand out?”

I was afraid of what others would think of my stories. I was afraid my stories weren’t good enough. That I wasn’t wise enough.

But this is how the Lord works. He asks you to do something and even though it may not make any sense to you. He wants you to do it anyways, with faith. To believe that what he is saying is true. To rely on Him for strength. To move forward even though you are scared.

So I prayed and asked Him if this blog was his will and I told him that I was not qualified to do it. He again tells me Jeremiah 1 but this time he makes it a point to remind me of verses 7 and 8 which says, The Lord replied, “Don’t say, I am too young, for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you.”

God was initially telling me “Do not say that you can’t do it!” You can do it with my help.”

You see our qualities come from God. Our gifts and abilities come from God. God wants us to follow Him no matter what we see in front of us. No matter who we think we are or what we think we can or can not do. God wants our obedience. And our obedience to the Lord will bring greater blessings than our plans could ever hope to achieve.

I didn’t start this blog because I had a problem that I wanted to share, I started it out of obedience to Him. If you are struggling with believing God and his word or maybe you believe but you are afraid to act on his word. I am here to tell you that choosing to believe in Him and following Him in obedience will be the best decision you will ever make.
