What is the Sinner’s Prayer For Salvation?

Did you know that God sent his son Jesus to die on a cross for your sins? That means if you believe in Jesus and ask for forgiveness of your sins, you will be forgiven of all the wrong you have ever done or will do. In this post, I am going to share with you a sinner’s prayer for salvation that you can pray to accept Jesus into your life. And then share with you how knowing Jesus can be a wonderful thing.

BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST

When you ask Jesus to come into your life, you are choosing to believe that Jesus is God’s son and that he paid the penalty for your sins.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting (eternal) life" (NIV Version).

You have been declared not guilty by God because Jesus took your place on that cross. You should have been the one who suffered the way Jesus suffered. But God loves you so much that he chose Jesus to take your place.

Our God is a God of love. And there is nothing you can do to take that love away.

Before we go any further, have you accepted Jesus into your life? If you haven’t then here is how you can accept him into your heart.

WHAT MUST YOU DO TO BE SAVED?

Admit you are a sinner. Believe Jesus died for you on the cross. Trust him to forgive you of those sins forever. Be willing to be sorry for your sin and turn away from it.

Then read this prayer to help give your life over to Him.

SALVATION PRAYER OR SINNER’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I believe you love me and that you sent your son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me. I am ready to begin a new life with you. Jesus, I give you my heart. Please forgive me for my sins. Teach me how to live the way you want me to live. Help me to trust that you have forgiven me and that you have made me a new person. Mold me into the person you want me to be. In Jesus’ name, I pray Amen.

KNOWING JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR

Now that you have accepted Jesus into your life. Let me tell you all the great things believers possess.

First, God’s word says,

Romans 10:9, "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation."

That means when you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved for good. It doesn’t say that you have to continually ask for salvation. You only have to ask Jesus into your heart one time and one time only. And then your name will be written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Second, by receiving God’s gift of forgiveness through believing in Jesus, you have also become children of God. You are God’s son or daughter! And since you are his child that makes you heirs of God.

Galatians 4:7 says, "So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God"(NLT version).

Third, God’s word says,

2 Corinthians 5:17," That anyone who belongs to Christ, has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (NLT version)

When you ask God for the forgiveness of your sins, God wipes them clean from your life.

Zechariah 3:4 says, "the angel spoke to Joshua saying, look I have stripped you of your sin and dressed you up in clean clothes" (message version).

So not only are you God’s child, but he has also stripped you of your sins; past, present, and future. What a wonderful God we serve!

Fourth, you will be spending eternity with Him in heaven. I would have to say that would be the best thing to receive when you accept Jesus into your life. Wouldn’t you agree?

Fifth is that you can talk to God whenever and wherever. You don’t have to be a pastor or a prophet. You don’t have to go make a sacrifice or be in a church to talk to God.

Let me elaborate a little on this subject for a brief minute. In God’s eyes, blood was the only way for someone to be forgiven for the sins they had committed. That’s why in the old testament they sacrificed(killed) animals when they wanted to ask for forgiveness for the sins that they had committed. God needed the animal’s blood to cover up the person’s sin.

Now, you live in the new testament where Jesus was born and sent to die on the cross for your sins. He became the blood that would take away the punishment for all your sins forever.

Did you catch that?

Jesus took care of it forever! He took the animal’s place. He took your place on the cross. Now you can just come to the Lord anytime to ask for forgiveness of your sins. He is waiting for you to come to him. He wants to have a personal relationship with you.

Sixth, you are set free from any fear, doubt, despair, guilt, addiction, and bitterness. I am not saying you won’t experience that in your lifetime. You are only human and you will experience many trials in your life. What I am saying is that you don’t have to live your life feeling that way. You have the power to change the way you think and Jesus is there to help you in doing so.

God is your heavenly father. Like an earthly father, he wants to spend time with you, speak to you, guide you, warn you, and encourage you! Some of you have not had a good earthly father. I am here to tell you that God is not like your human father. God has chosen to adopt you into his family. He takes you in as his own child. And sacrificed his own son so that he can have a relationship with you.

Who would sacrifice their one and only son for someone else? God will always treat you with love and respect and wants nothing more than the best for you. If you haven’t already, now is the time to accept Jesus into your life. I promise that you will never regret it!
