To have worry is to torment oneself with disturbing thoughts. When you think of worry it really puts it in perspective when you say that you will torment yourself with disturbing thoughts. That is aweful to think about isn’t it? Worry also initially says God is not capable of taking care of you. So how can you get to where you can let go and let God deal with your worries and fight your battles? In this article I want to share with you 4 ways that will help you to let go and let God fight your battles.
WHEN SATAN ATTACKS
Satan likes to attack you when you feel tired, anxious, and overwhelmed. That is when he does his best work. He likes to confuse you, make you doubt, and make you question the alternative which would be going to God for direction.
God’s word says you are to give all your worries and anxieties over to him and he will take care of it because he cares for you (see 1 Peter 5:7). So that means you are to go to God every time you think negatively or feel anxious. He wants you to come to him for every little thing.
And boy do I know how hard that is to do.
Satan will try to get in your head and make you believe lies that have no truth to them. You are to ask yourself if what you are hearing is truth or lies.
Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally brothers whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
Take a look at that verse again. It doesn’t say to think about the negative or bad things that may or may not happen to you or to your family.
It says to think about whatever is true.
Did you catch that? Let me tell you 99 percent of the time what you worry about never comes true. You have to tell yourself that and remind yourself that it’s not true unless it’s been proven or you know for a fact that is it true.
You have control over your thoughts. You can tell yourself that the lies you are hearing are not true and that you don’t have to listen to them. You can tell Satan to go away and that you don’t believe a word he says.
A great practice to learn is to repeat verses about your situation. Verses such as the one above in Philippians. The more you repeat verses in your head or out loud the easier it will be to defeat Satan’s attacks. Everytime your mind goes to that negative thought you are to replace it with God’s word. After doing this for awhile your mind will naturally start to gravitate toward God’s word rather than the negative thoughts you would go to before. This is renewing your mind.
4 STEPS TO HELP YOU LET GO
Focus on God – discipline yourself to meditate or focus on God’s presence and the work he has done in your life. When you focus on your problem it gets bigger. The same happens when you focus on God, you will feel him more and experience him more. God will get bigger.
Trust in God – Isaiah 26:3-4 says, “God you give true peace to people who depend on you, whose mind is focused on you, to those who trust you. So trust the Lord always, because in the Lord you have a place of safety forever.”
Meditate on His word – The bible should be your most precious possession. It is your instruction booklet. If you love it you will believe what it says. Find some verses that pertain to your situation and think about them often. You can search on google or I use the Bible App for searching verses of a particular topic.
Psalms 119: 165 says, "Those who love your teachings (word) will find true peace. And nothing will make them fall!"
Praise our God – When you put your attention on praising and worshiping the Lord it will take your mind off of the problem you are facing. God will help you to feel at peace when you praise him.
A good example of praising God would be in 2 Chronicles 20 which tells us that, King Jehoshaphat learned of an incoming attack. Despite his fear and worry, he demonstrated total confidence in God. Calling the people of Judah together they began to praise God for being the all-powerful ruler of the nations. And they recalled how the Lord had fought for them in the past. King Jehoshaphat went to the Lord with his problems and God told them, “Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged by this vast army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
Notice how the people of Judah handled their problem. They praised God for who he is. They recalled or remembered how God helped them in their past. They took their worries and anxieties to God. They trusted God. And God took care of them and the vast army that was headed for them.
REFLECTING ON MY SITUATION
As I am sitting here typing this post, I am being reminded of the worries I have had over the past several days. Since starting this blog I have been really overwhelmed with all the learning and the technical aspects of it. I know nothing when it comes to computers and the internet. And there is so much material to learn that I was just getting upset over it. As I prayed I told God that I was doing this for him and that he was going to have to provide all the resources to help me learn and give me the wisdom to know what to write.
You see he didn’t want me to worry or be anxious. He reminded me of his promises in the bible and the verses that he gave to me while I was writing this blog post. God is good like that. All you have to do is go to him in complete surrender and he will give you the peace you need to let go and let God.

Always a great reminder! This week has definitely been tough for me and the devil has being speaking his lies. I needed this reminder so thank you! The story of Jehoshaphat is one that is often brought to my mind lately. The part wear they tell God that they don’t know what to do but their eyes are on him is my heart’s cry lately.
