Faith and hope are found in the promises God has given us in his word. No matter what trials, temptations, or pain we may suffer, we can always hold on to the faith and hope God extends to us.
But sometimes it can be hard to find the faith and hope to keep going with God. So I want to share with you some verses and then a couple of prayers that you can use when you can’t find the faith and hope you need to keep going.
A GUIDE TO PRAYING
But before I do that I want to share with you a great way to pray just in case you may struggle in this area.
Praise Him – Using Psalm 23 read back the word to God affirming who he is and how he loves and cares for you.
Admit to Him – Confess your sin to the Lord. Prepare your heart to hear his words. Use Psalm 32 for guidance.
Thank Him – Thank the Lord for all he has done for you.
Ask Him – Ask the Lord to encourage, convict, and soften your heart and to help you hear and understand him.
Now that we have covered the basis of praying, let’s start praying for some faith and hope, shall we?
VERSES ON FAITH
Matthew 21: 22 – You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
Hebrews 11: 1 – Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Mark 11: 22-24 – Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, may you be lifted up and thrown into the sea, and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
2 Corinthians 5: 7 – For we live by believing and not by seeing.
A PRAYER FOR FAITH
God, thank you for listening to my prayers. I am amazed by the fact that you do. Today, I am praying for my faith to grow. I want to be able to trust you through anything life throws at me. I want to be able to stay peaceful when bad things happen. I want to have joy when the enemy wants me to be angry or sad. And I want to see the good plans you have for me come to pass. Help me to trust in you and not depend on my own understanding. And to remember that you know what is best for me. Nothing is impossible for you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray Amen.
VERSES ON HOPE
Jeremiah 29: 11 – For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.
Isaiah 40: 31 – But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Romans 15: 13 – I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 10: 23 – Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
A PRAYER FOR HOPE
Heavenly Father, thank you for your love for me and for being an amazing God. Your word says that you will keep me from harm and that you watch over me. That I don’t need to be scared because I can trust in you and put my hope in you. Thank you that your plans for me are good and that my future has hope. I love you. In Jesus’ name, I pray Amen
