Do you wake up already feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or rushing to the next thing on your to-do list? Before checking social media, answering messages, or jumping into the stress of the day, spending even a few minutes with God can completely shift your mindset.
Reading only one Bible verse in the morning can get you prepared to start your day. And I have gathered some of the best Bible verses for you. Let’s get started!
Often people think that spending time with the Lord means spending a half an hour or more with him. So, they get discouraged and don’t spend any time with him at all. But I am here to tell you that it doesn’t matter how much time you spend with God. Giving him just 5 min of your day is better than nothing at all. I talk to God throughout my entire day. So, there is no right or wrong way or special formula to spending one on one time with the Lord.
I encourage you to choose a verse and read it every morning before you begin your day and see how it can impact your life. You can read it while you’re getting ready in front of the bathroom mirror or you can read it while you eat breakfast. Once you read it a few times it will be easy for you to memorize it and then you can recite it anytime throughout the day. Pick one verse and stick with it for a week and see how it changes your mind and heart.
A SIMPLE 5 MINUTE MORNING ROUTINE
- Read one Bible verse
- Read it again slowly
- Ask yourself one question about the verse
- Pray a short prayer
- Repeat the verse throughout the day

WHY SHOULD YOU START YOUR DAY WITH BIBLE VERSES?
You do not have to spend an hour reading the Bible to benefit from God’s Word. Even a few minutes in scripture can help you:
- Focus your mind on God instead of stress
- Feel encouraged before difficult situations arise
- Replace fear and worry with peace
- Remember God’s promises throughout the day
- Renew your mind and strengthen your faith
That is why reading even one Bible verse every morning can make a difference in how you think, react, and trust God throughout the day.
BIBLE VERSES TO START YOUR DAY
Read the verses and the reflection questions that follow. Pick a verse that speaks to your heart in this moment and reflect on that one verse. You don’t have to do them all at once. Just pick one and focus on that verse alone. Then take a moment to pray and ask God to help you trust Him in this area today.
1. The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. (Lamentations 3: 22-23)
Reflection:
What area of your life do you need to remember God’s mercy in today?
2. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! (Isaiah 26: 3)
Reflection:
What worry can you surrender to God this morning?
3. But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. (Psalms 59: 16)
Reflection:
What is one thing you can be grateful for that God has given you?
4. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6: 33)
Reflection:
How can you put God first before distractions today?
5. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4: 13)
Reflection:
What challenge are you facing today that you need to trust God to help you through?
6. Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7)
Reflection:
What is one thing weighing on your heart that you can pray about right now?
7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1: 7)
Reflection:
Is fear holding you back in any area of your life, and what would trusting God look like today?
8. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope. (Jeremiah 29: 11)
Reflection:
Are you trusting God’s timing and plan for your life, even when you cannot see what He is doing?
9. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5: 17)
Reflection:
What old mindset, habit, or way of thinking do you need to leave behind as you walk with Christ?
MORNING PRAYER
Good Morning Heavenly Father,
Thank you so much for this day you have given me. I give you all the worries of today and all that I need to accomplish over to you. I ask for your will be done. Help me to accept whatever comes my way with grace. And allow me to glorify you in all that I do today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
