Everyone has struggled with fear from time to time. Some of you have experienced it worse than others. So today I am going to share with you how you can fight fear with God’s love.
Fear can take many forms – anxiety, worry, panic, and even dread. For some of you being in a constant state of fear can be hard to live with. And you want to know how you can deal with fear when it arises.
First, I want to say that you are not alone in this struggle. I had to see a doctor for my anxiety. And I have been dealing with it for over 9 years now. But I still needed to know how to handle anxiety because sometimes a pill doesn’t take it all away. And besides God doesn’t want you to live in a state of fear. He wants you to know that He loves you unconditionally. And for you to be confident in His love.
Satan on the other hand wants to use fear to prevent you from moving forward and enjoying your life. He will enter your mind and speak the what-if”s: “What if I fail? What if it doesn’t go the way I hope? What if something bad happens?” Fear will keep you from experiencing God’s best.
I just recently wrote a book. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be writing a book. I read them. I don’t write them. I was very much afraid. But if I would have stayed in that state of fear, then God would not have blessed me with the ability to write the book. I would not experience being an author. I had to step out in faith and remember God’s love.
When God asks us to do something He will never let us go through it alone. In His love, He will walk with us every step of the way. God’s word says in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has a plan for us. A plan to prosper us and not to harm us. God will never do anything to harm us. It is not in His nature. God desires for us to live free from fear and enjoy our life.
The Battle Is Won
Please understand that the battle of fear has already been won. Jesus defeated fear at the cross. God did not give us a spirit of fear (timidity). He gave us a spirit of power, love, and a calm and well-balanced mind (2 Timothy 1:7 AMPC). But Satan wants us to live in fear. Because living in fear will keep us from doing God’s will. We have power over Satan. And we can tell Satan that we are not going to fear because God loves us and that we are called children of God (1 John 3:1).
Think of it like this. Do you love your children? Would you do anything for them? Do you love them no matter what they do? That’s how God loves you and me. But with no restrictions. No obstacles. No what-ifs or maybe’s. He loves you no matter what you have done in the past or what you will do in the future. Nothing will ever be able to hold Him back from loving you. Getting to know God will help you rest assured that He will always meet your needs and never let you down. So, you won’t have any reason to fear. Here are a couple of verses that say God will be with you.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
No Fear In Love
Take a look at 1 John 4:18. It says this,
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear….”
It tells us that perfect love drives out fear. God’s love is perfect. Only His love will drive out fear. Not our spouse’s love or love from our family. Although wonderful, it will not be able to quench the fear because we are only human and we are not perfect. But God is perfect. God is love.
Let me encourage you today to pray and ask God to show you His love. Spend some time studying how much He loves you. I promise you He will show up. And when He does, He will show you how much He loves you in amazing ways.
