Many people suffer from depression. For some, there can be some shame in having depression. As a Christian, you must realize that depression is not a sin. People think just because you are a Christian that you shouldn’t suffer from depression but rather be joyful all the time. But you and I live in a fallen world and depression is just part of living through it.
When you have acknowledged the fact that you have depression you need to take care of it immediately. Some can deal with it on their own while others need to be on medication. Know that there is no shame in taking medication for depression and that you are not alone. I never thought I would ever have to take prescription drugs for anything, I was always into natural remedies, but my doctor and the Lord graciously showed me that I had to be put on some medications for my depression.
I want to share with you some scripture that has helped me to cope with my depression along with taking my medication. Make sure you read through until the conclusion where I share how you can use these verses to help you overcome depression. I pray that it will help you as much as it has helped me.

CONCLUSION
Pick one of these verses and meditate on it. Meditate means to think about it over and over in your mind until it becomes embedded in the way you think. Every time a negative thought crosses your mind you need to replace that thought with God’s word or one of the verses you picked out from above. You may have to do this several times a day for a week or more in order for it to remain in your mind. That’s ok! The more you think about the scripture the calmer and more relaxed you will be.
Remember you don’t have to live with depression. Jesus took care of the depression when he died on the cross for you. He died so you wouldn’t have to live in fear or condemnation. So don’t let the devil get a foothold on your mind. If you feel that you can’t get rid of the depression on your own do not hesitate to get help. Remember that there is no shame in it. You are a good person, and God has amazing things in store for you.
